Lips Like Sugar

October 29th, 2008

Here’s a quick tip for your caterer or bartenders, and an easy way to jazz up cocktails if you’re doing them yourself. Add a complimentary flavored sugar or salt rim to your glass and take your drinks to the next level! There are many flavored rims that can be bought pre-made but it’s just as easy to make them yourself. For a classic Mojito, mix granulated sugar with lime juice and crushed fresh mint leaves. Spread the mixture in a think layer on a baking sheet and dry it out in your oven at a very low temperature until the moisture has been absorbed. Next, dip the rim of your glass in lime juice or water and then dip directly into the sugar mixture. A tangy and tasty rim will compliment the refreshing cocktail. For salty rims, follow the same procedure and don’t be afraid to experiment with flavors that will compliment your cocktail. For the easiest of flavored rims, try using powdered Jell-o or Kool-Aid for instant color and flavor. It’s a party in your mouth!
