As the One World Turns

October 4th, 2008

Choosing your bridesmaids and wedding attendants can feel more like a soap opera than real life. Regardless of the size of your bridal party, there are always special friends and family members that you’d like to include in some meaningful way without asking them to be the best man. Here are a couple of One World tricks to make sure everyone feels included and that old college roommate doesn’t get his revenge during the toast.

For girlfriends, give them all a special bouquet or corsage, or ask them all to dress within the same color scheme so they are easily identifiable to other guests. For guys, give them all a matching tie, boutonnière or vest. You could also pick out a blouse or dress shirt online and send all of your friends a link so they can buy their own size, then let them finish their outfit in their own style. That could make for some really cool wedding pictures!

For a One World Wedding, you could give the chosen ones ethnic items of clothing, accessories or flowers as a nod to your own heritage, or the heritage you are about to gain through marriage. This can be an especially good way to honor future in-laws. And don’t forget the words of one wise man, “Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.”
